Vada Pav

Bindaas – Jhakaas – Timepass

About

VadaPav is the quintessential snack of a local Mumbai person (Mumbaikar). The cheapest and most easily available snack – all railway stations and every ‘galli‘ or street would have at least a couple of vadapav stalls – it’s imbibed in the food culture of the city.

This is a pilot project to (a) connect foodies who love the vada pav and share their experiences, favourite places to grab this delicacy (or any other favourite snack/food) and (b) share info. on great value meals and cool deals around the city.

So get yourself a bunch of vada pavs and enjoy sharing it online!

  7. The two best vada-pav experiences I’ve had was first during transit between Goa to Pune by bus in 1992, in the rural Maharashtra region. Very simple vada-pav, with the flavor coming mainly from the vada (which was excellent), with the only embellishment being a salted green “mirchi.” My second great experience was in Pune, many years later in 1998. A friend of mine took me to a roadside stall near SIFT, and the chutney and masala on the pav were unforgettable! I stayed for 4 days in Pune, and each day I’d visit that joint.

It’s been 10 yrs since the last time I’ve tasted a pure desi vada pav. I’ve had them a few times at sweet stores in the USA, but nothing comes close to those two worthy experiences with the snack.
